Diary of an Exam Day... Part Three

Wake up from dream about becoming a gymnast at dawn due to husband nuzzling shoulder. Take advantage of children sleeping past 5:30am. Resist urge to snuggle back under blanket and go to sleep and sensibly have shower instead.

Remember exam is in 2 hours and panic.

Get dressed in adrenaline and confidence boosting clothes. Make husband happy. Resist urge of stilettos again. Read through last couple of past exam papers and pass all easily. Meander off to train station. Catch train.

Buy caffeinated drink on way to connecting bus stop. Drink and almost spew from excessive sugar and caffeine. Not particularly nervous, just eager to get today over and done with.

Wait at busstop as not 1 but 3 buses zip past because they are full. Start to feel first frisson of panic because although exam itself doesn't worry me, turning up late does.

Finally get on a bus, get off and walk to exam room. Can't even manufacture panic about exam which is worrisome in itself. Merely feel sick from too much caffeine and not enough food. Start to crave hot English Breakfast. Can almost smell bacon. Drift into daydream involving still being in bed and eating smoky hot bacon. Annoyed when interrupted to sit down for exam.

Fill out MCQ computer sheet by colouring in a multitude of dots. Get handed exam paper and peruse first 10 questions. Caffeine kicks brain into overdrive. "...300 Qs, 90 minutes... START". Start colouring in circles rapidly. 20 minutes later onto final 10 questions and finally lift head. Quickly peruse to make sure have not missed any questions. Resist temptation to review answers as I always do better on first pass. Stand up and hand in exam papers. Rest of room looks at me like I have 2 heads. Barely notice.

Walk to library feeling light and free and pull out text books and laptop so can prepare for this afternoon's practical exam. Get distracted immediately by emails, forums and various websites. Try and garner up some adrenaline and fail miserably. Give in to lure of blog writing and figure can study later... afterall exam's not til 12:30.

Glance at clock and realise it's almost 11. Figure should probably start studying soon. Start daydreaming about what liquor will buy on the way home...

It's 11.52. I'm thinking about you. Good Luck this afternoon, Jenn.

Can't wait to hear how you go.

You're my superstar Jenn! I feel like a proud parent reading about her child's exams LOL

I hope you had a strong drink of some description last night and slept like a baby.
